Decorations

On July 15, 2011 I had a Harry Potter party. I just had my immediate family attend - more as a chance for me to try some of my ideas out before having a bigger party with more people. And, although there were only a few of us, we had a truly magical time. I am making this blog to document how and what I did for the party.
To set the tone I hung up grey butcher paper with stones drawn on to make it look like the inside of Hogwarts. I had actually made these years ago when I taught school so this was probably the easiest part of the preparations. I had also made a Hogwarts School sign which I hung along the side wall as well as a banner for each of the school houses. As you can see my "walls" were far from perfect and didn't even cover up all of the walls, but it was a fun touch and it got the point across.I made a simple sign for my front door. I wanted to make it clear that people would be stepping into a magical world when they entered the house, but I didn't want to draw too much attention from muggles.
I also had these Transfiguration blackboards which I had made by simply drawing with chalk onto black construction paper. Easy.
